Postdoctoral Fellow Position

The Rochester Center for Brain Imaging (RCBI) at the University of Rochester in collaboration with the Integrated NeuroImaging (INI) Laboratory at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) has a postdoctoral position available immediately. The successful candidate will be involved in several cross-disciplinary studies requiring development and implementation of fMRI methods for specific clinical and neuroscience applications. The position is supported in part by an NIH grant that studies cerebral blood flow dynamics in patients with carotid occlusive disease using arterial spin labeling (ASL) fMRI. The position is available for 1 year with the option to extend up to 3 years.

The RCBI is a research MRI center housed in a separate building located between the Arts, Science & Engineering campus and the Medical Center campus of the University of Rochester (a 5 min walk from each campus). The RCBI has a Siemens TIM Trio 3T scanner with 32-channel phased-array head coil and associated Mac and PC-based stimulus presentation computers. There is also a Mock scanner outfitted with identical stimulus presentation computer, simulated audio of pulse sequences, and motion sensors to train participants to reduce head motion. The RCBI also houses five labs that use MRI as their primary research tool, with an additional two-dozen investigators who use the 3T scanner. The RCBI enables MRI research by investigators from the University of Rochester, neighboring institutions, and the science and technology industries.


  1. PhD in MR Physics, Biomedical Engineering, or related fields
  2. Experience with functional and structural MRI and ability to interface with a variety of statistical and imaging tasks and processing software
  3. MATLAB programming skills
  4. Demonstrated publication record and ability to write grants
  5. Experience in one or more neuroimaging methods, preferably MRI
  6. Experience with motion and distortion correction in MRI
