The University of Rochester has made a major investment in the cognitive neurosciences as part of a new initiative in the Del Monte Institute of Neuroscience. Dr. John Foxe, PhD was hired in late 2015 as the Director of the Del Monte Institute and as Chair of the newly reconstituted Department of Neuroscience. Dr. Foxe's primary research lab will be located on the 3rd floor of the RCBI (renovations to be completed in April 2017).
Dr. Richard N. Aslin, PhD has moved a portion of the Rochester Babylab from Meliora Hall to the RCBI. This newly renovated Baby NeuroLab houses a 48-channel NIRS machine and a 32-channel EEG machine for use with infants and children.
Two new faculty with joint appointments in Biomedical Engineering and Neuroscience, Dr. Edmund C Lalor, PhD and Dr. Ross Maddox, PhD, will be creating new lab space on the 2nd floor of the RCBI by the Fall of 2017.
As part of these building renovations, the RCBI will have a new elevator completed by April of 2017. That elevator renovation necessitated the relocation of the behavioral testing lab of Dr. Jessica Cantlon, PhD directly across the hall from the Mock Scanner room. That renovation will be completed by March of 2017.
